ABOUT LAKES ...
In Veneto, near Belluno, there is Lake South.
There are many legends about its formation. Here is one:
this is the story of the giant and his daughter Sorapis Misurina. The child was so small, but it was also very lively and mischievous. The castle no one could say no to his requests. Misurina was very curious one day and the nurse spoke to her mirror "all know" where the mirror was enough to see yourself or someone to know everything that you want to know about him or her.
The child asked for a gift to his father when he learned that it was Sorapis mirror "know everything", blanched. The mirror belonged to the fairy Monte Cristallo. The fairy laughed and said that he would give the giant mirror to give to his daughter on one condition: that did turn into a mountain in the shadow of the fairy garden. Sorapis accepted.
The fairy moved to pity by Misurina sent him to submit the pact under which would have the mirror. The woman hoped that she would never agree to see her father turned into a mountain and was sent back to the mirror. Misurina told him not to think about it, that would be wonderful to become cover of a mountain and woods and meadows on which she could run. The condemnation was decreed, and not just grabbed the mirror, Sorapis became the mountain which still stands in front of the Monte Cristallo. Misurina, frightened by the immediacy of the transformation, he cried out and fell down from the shoulders of Sorapis now become the crest of the mountain.
In the fall, the mirror shattered and the baby died. Then the eyes of Sorapis began to get a lot of tears until my eyes went out completely. With those tears formed the lake beneath which lie Misurina and the mirror and in which the Monte Sorapis reflected.
